1,2-Dimethoxyethane is primarily used as a solvent in various chemical reactions, particularly in the field of organic synthesis. It is also used as a solvent for lithium batteries, in the manufacturing of dyes, in the production of pharmaceuticals, and as an extraction solvent for oil refining. Additionally, it finds applications as a solvent in some electrolytes for batteries and capacitors. Due to its relatively low toxicity and high boiling point, it is favored in many industrial processes. However, like many organic solvents, it should be handled with care due to its flammable nature.
